You may have never experienced properly fitting footwear; it may be that Mephisto will fit differently than any shoe you have ever worn. This is a common experience and it should be noted that proper fit is critical to comfort. With walking, it is important to give your toes a substantial degree of freedom. They should never be “locked in”, one against another. Mephisto shoes should provide plenty of room in the toe area. The same thinking applies to your heel. The Mephisto heel is not designed to fit snug. A comfortable walking shoe will flex and bend with your foot. Your foot should be cradled, not bound. A properly fitting shoe should not have to be “broken in” to be comfortable…they should be comfortable from the very first step you take.
Sizing
Sizing can vary from style to style which means you may not wear the same size in all your shoes. Also, our sandals are available in full sizes only. If you are normally a half size in a Mephisto shoe, you should size up to the next size. Below are some size conversion charts which offer general guidelines for converting your size to another scale.

After four years, I’m just leaving a review now.
My Podiatrist recommended this pair in 2022 as my house slippers to help reduced my chronic lower back pain due to fallen arches. At first, I didn’t want to get it because it looks ugly and expensive, and I have a pair of Birkenstock already. But he insisted and I’m so glad I did. This is the most comfortable sandals I’ve ever worn. Mostly worn inside on a hardwood floor, I once brought it to Mexico knowing there’d be lots of walking. When we got back, I made the mistake of washing it in the shower. The cork didn’t deteriorate right away so I brought it out a few other times and washing/cleaning it again before wearing inside. It is well worth the price.
For my 45th birthday this year, I asked hubby for another pair as my birthday present. But not before attempting to have the cork replaced or repaired but the cobbler said it’s not worth it. I’m better off getting a new pair. He did apply a commercial grade glue on the cork for $25. Now, these oldies is my outside slippers. Did I mention I sprained my ankle back in December 2025? Yes, after over 3yrs of use. So just be careful. Overall, 5 stars 👌

I have been wearing Mephisto for years and I love them. Over time my feet have gotten wider and a bit longer as my arches fell, the support for my arch in these is great, my feet feel like they have come home when I wear these sandles, I recommend them! Thanks for making wide fit!
I have been purchasing Zach Mephisto every year & every time the foot bed gets thinner cork and lining quality is not up to the standard of previous years .
The Upper leather is great & will last for years. However foot bed should be reevaluated.. Not worth the price

As usual, these sandals give me the arch support I need. They are robust and solid. Love them for the confort. I've bought more than a dozen pairs in the past years. I just wished Mephisto designed solid sandals like these ones but with more style, and more panache. I believe that comfort and style in the same shoe/sandal are possible!

First pair of sandals purchase 4 to 5 years ago, very comfortable.This new purchase I was un sure as to right size for 11 1/2 , chose #46 Black. They Fit like a custom glove, I put them on and Haaaaa. Very happy. Going to buy another pair.

I have been wearing this style of Mephisto for years on the advice of my foot doctor. I now have a brown pair, black pair and red pair. I wear them around the house everyday as well as outside as soon as the warm weather arrives. I love them.
I love the Zack Sandal as it gives a great secure footing. Over the years I have bought and worn this sandal everyday . However, the last 2 years the foot bed breaks down-the cork starts to tear closest to the big toe where leather starts. These really are the only shoes I wear I have tried the Helen and two strap sandal and the support is not the same. FYI I am an active 84 year young woman.
The upper part of the sandal still looks new & is intact even though the foot bed is breaking down.
I bought this pair in red at a shop in Regina. Loved them. Never had red shoes before in my life. Fun, -that air cushion thing really makes a difference in comfort, as does the kind of rocky sole instead of flat, a "light" step....so, I ordered the same pair in black on-line.
These Mephistos are a much better design than any other high end sandal not naming the one starting with B that I had worn for years but always kinda hurt my big toe and not as good arch support... They are such good quality, I may never have to replace them!! as I am quite old and might leave the planet any year now......
I purchased these for my step-father in a nursing home. He has the exact same pair from over 10 years ago, and they are all he will wear. He kept refusing to wear new slippers and shoes we bought for him, but as soon as we brought the exact same sandals to him, he put them on and hasn't taken them off. This was a huge win for us and the folks at the home that had to look at his old worn out pair, lol! He says they are the most comfortable sandals he has ever had... even better than his old exact same pair. ;)
